Cosplay is a new art here in the Philippines. When you say Cosplay, Short for "costume play", The activity of dressing up as a favorite character from anime/manga and any other kinds of costumes. At this time, It normally means wearing a costume, usually at an anime themed event. Animated movies and shows produced in Japan have so much art on it that many people nowadays want to be like them. These Japanese style animations do not just portray art but also good and moral lessons like brotherhood see Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood. Two of the most popular Cosplayers here in the Philippines are the Gosiengfiao Sisters.
Alodia, the elder of the sisters, before winning contests for her very creative and worthwhile costumes started cosplay online via her deviantart page. Her first submissions were artworks related to anime and videogames, until she gradually added in some cosplay and some figurine collection photos. Started at the age of 15 she's currently active in the cosplay community here in our country. Ashley, a photography enthusiasts, was her partner in the world of Cosplay. Both of them shares the passion of making Cosplay known here in the Philippines.
Cosplay is an art that have lots of potential for the next generation. It can also be use in marketing brands and companies. Cosplay here in the Philippines was wildly known nowadays because of globalization, the Internet and Community-Building. It is getting better every year. Cosplayers do all these things for the name of this New Art.
